Cynthia M. Perkins, also known to her friends and family as Cyndy moved with her family as a teen to central New York where she met the love of her life. They married and the Perkins family grew to three children who are now grown with families of their own.
Cyndy went to nursing school, graduated as RN in 1982 and worked in ICU, Med Surg and ultimately L&D. She became an Adult Nurse Practitioner in1987 and worked in primary and tertiary care settings. She worked as an NP for L&D in a teaching hospital in Syracuse, NY and balancing work and school, went to Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing and graduated as a Certified Nurse Midwife in 1993.
She has worked as a Nurse Practitioner and Certified Nurse Midwife in New York, West Virginia, Kentucky, and North Carolina. She has worked in private practice as well as community health centers and clinics. She taught for Frontier for 6 years and has precepted nursing, nurse practitioner and nurse midwifery students.
After working in North Carolina for 12 years, Cyndy began doing Locums. The first job was on the island of St. Thomas, VI. Her next temporary job took her to Rapid City South Dakota where she worked for Native American Women's Clinic. Her temporary job at Women's Centre for Excellence has now become permanent. She arrived in Florida in April and became the full time CNM in July, 2013.
Cyndy and her husband Don Perkins are making their home in Florida. They both enjoy family time, travel, reading and being outdoors. Cyndy credits the family support for her success as a nurse, Nurse Practitioner and Certified Nurse Midwife. Going back to school, married and the mother of three was a challenge and a group effort! Cyndy and Don were fortunate enough to be at the births of all 5 of the grandchildren, 4 of whom were delivered into Cyndy's hands.
