Your Abdomen

Right after delivery, your uterus is hard and round and can be felt behind your navel. During pregnancy, the abdominal muscles stretched and by about six weeks, your uterus will shrink back to its normal size.

About six weeks after delivery, you will have a postpartum visit with your doctor to make sure you are healing well and that you have recovered from pregnancy and birth.

This visit is a good time to share concerns and ask questions about your physical or emotional health, the healing process, breastfeeding, birth control, weight loss, sex, and how you are adjusting to life with your new baby.
