Nutrition, Weight & Exercise

Having a healthy weight and diet and getting regular physical activity can help both the mother and fetus during pregnancy.

You should try to reach a healthy weight before you become pregnant.  Excess weight can cause high blood pressure, diabetes and a greater chance of problems during pregnancy including risks for the baby as well as the mother.

Exercise and physical activity during pregnancy will depend upon how healthy and active you were before becoming pregnant.
